General Information for Online Application



1.Application Deadlines

3.Application Fee (Non-refundable)
 
HK$450
 To complete the submission of your application, you are required to pay a non-refundable application fee for each online application through E-Payment. That is to pay online by credit card, either VISA, MASTER or CUP card. Otherwise, the application will not be further processed.
 Notes:
 
i.  If you would like to use the VISA/MASTER card to pay for the online application fee (non-refundable), please select E-Payment option and choose the BEA JETCO Payment Gateway.
ii.  If you would like to use the CUP card to pay for the online application fee (non-refundable), you are required to use Internet Explorer 7.0 or above to submit e-payment. Please select E-Payment option; then choose UnionPay Online Payment (UPOP).
iii. If your online payment is not successful, please try the E-Payment method again later. All applicants who have successfully submitted their online application forms will receive an acknowledgment e-mail message from the University as confirmation.

The University does not entrust any third-party intermediary or agency to handle admissions applications and related matters. Please submit the application and fees directly to Hong Kong Baptist University.

 

4.Application Acknowledgement
 After you submit an application, an acknowledgment note with an application number will be sent to you by email. Please check the accuracy of your application data and report any discrepancies immediately in writing to the Graduate School. You are advised to quote your application number in all subsequent correspondence with the University.

 

5.Change in Personal Particulars After Submission of Application
 During the application period, applicants should report changes in personal particulars such as correspondence address, contact number(s), etc. to the Graduate School in writing immediately.

6.Notification of Results
 Results of HKPFS will be announced in May 2024 at the website of the Research Grants Council (RGC). Please refer to RGC's website for more details. Awardees will be notified by email individually from RGC.

 

7.Student Visa
 The Hong Kong Immigration Department requires all full-time non-local students (see definition) to obtain a student visa in order to study in Hong Kong. Applications should normally be made at least 10-12 weeks in advance through the University. Applicants will be informed of the details once they are given the admission offer. (Part-time non-local students should possess an appropriate and valid visa to prove their eligibility to stay and study in Hong Kong.)

 Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview/written test by email/phone.
 Applicants who are offered admission to a programme will receive an individual notification by email. If an admission offer is made, applicants must decide whether or not to accept the offer by a specified date. To accept the offer, applicants are required to pay the confirmation fee (non-refundable) by a specified deadline. Applicants being put on the waiting list or fail to be given an offer will also be informed of the application result in writing.

8.Student Visa

(b)Confidential Reference
 
 Applicants are requested to nominate up to two referees for providing confidential references. The Academic Registry (Taught Postgraduate Studies Section) will invite referees via email to complete the online Confidential Reference Form via a designated online platform within two weeks from the date of successful submission of the application. To avoid delay in processing the application, applicants are reminded to check the accuracy of the referees' information (e.g. email address, contact number) and follow up with the referee(s) as appropriate.

 Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee for each online application. Otherwise, the application will not be further processed. Please make an online payment by using VISA/MASTER, China UnionPay (CUP) Card or Alipay/WeChat Pay to settle the application fee.
 

6.Student Visa
 The Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government requires all full-time non-local studentsi to obtain a student visa in order to study in Hong Kong. The University will sponsor full-time non-local students from mainland China, Macau and Taiwan, and other overseas countries to apply for their student visa once they accept the admission offer. Newly admitted non-local students will be required to complete the application procedures through the University Student Visa Application System. Please click here for more information. 7.Application Acknowledgement
 Upon successful submission of the application, an acknowledgement email will be sent to the applicant. Applicants should read the email and check the information carefully. If there is any discrepancy, please report immediately to the Academic Registry (Taught Postgraduate Studies Section) at hkbu_tpg@hkbu.edu.hk. Applicants should quote their full name and application number in all subsequent correspondence with the University.

Notes:
i Non-local students are defined as students holding student visa / entry permit, visa under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates, or dependent visa who are aged 18 years old or above before 1 September of the year of which they are admitted to relevant post-secondary programmes in Hong Kong issued by the Director of Immigration.
 
ii Upon receipt of the admission offer, applicants are required to arrange to send the official transcript(s) of the academic qualification(s) to the Academic Registry (Taught Postgraduate Studies Section) directly by the awarding institution(s)/authorities. HKBU graduates/students are exempted from submitting the official transcript(s) for their previous/current studies in the University.
 
iii Individual programmes may stipulate different language proficiency requirements, or equivalent acceptable qualifications, suitable for their fields of study.
